This week’s edition of our Apps of the Week roundup includes a simple yet powerful RSS reader, a unique note-taking app, and a healthy guide to fast food. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.
Elytra is a simple RSS reader with options for everyone from casual browsers to power users. Features include fast, native text rendering with support for Dynamic Type and Voice Over, push notifications, local bookmarks, support for both XML and JSON feed formats, search, sync and more. I really like the design, and of course you can customize the theme and accent colors.
Blink offers a unique twist on the typical todo list or notes app. Instead of presenting items in list format, it puts them in paragraph format, allowing you to see everything at a glance. Now I don’t know if this method is better or worse than the standard list format, but the app itself looks great and includes premium features such as voice dictation and smart gestures.
Even if you’d like to eat healthier, money and time restraints can make it difficult. That’s where Cheat Day comes in. It shows you a list of the healthiest menu items you can get from fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Taco Bell, Starbucks, and more. I believe I featured a similar app in a recent roundup, but honestly, the more of these apps are out there and being used, the better.
Looking for something different and relaxing to play this weekend? Check out Skyward Journey. In this game, you must gather lost birds, raw wind currents to guide them, and lead them on their long journey home. Features include intuitive, one-touch gameplay and beautiful, zen-like audio from renowned musician Jeff van Dyck.
A malicious power stirs in the forgotten kingdom of Vallaris, and you must help restore order to the corrupted realm. Grimvalor is a hack-and-slash platformer with fast-paced combat taking place in a dark fantasy world. Features include stunning 3D visuals accelerated by Metal graphics, epic boss fights, customizable touch controls and support for MFi controllers and offline gameplay.
