On Black Friday Apple unveiled their first retail space in Australia boasting its new store design at Chadstone shopping centre just in time for Christmas and school holidays. The new Apple Chadstone is triple the size of the old store which opened in 2008. Apple currently has 22 stores in Australia.
Apple’s senior vice-president of retail Angela Ahrendts said she was “thrilled to open Apple Chadstone in a stunning new location and to introduce Australians to our latest store design. We look forward to continuing to build on our 22 stores in Australia,” hinting that Apple continues to look for a location for store 23.
The new Apple store at Chadstone, part of the Vicinity centre’s $650 million revamp, boasts 4.2-metre tall bronze pivot doors opening on to “the Avenue” a faux boulevard with window displays showcasing Apple products.
Inside, the “Genius Grove” will be filled with native Ficus Flash trees and natural light underneath a skylight set 7.6 metres into the ceiling.
According to Wikipedia, Australian’s began enjoying Black Friday in 2011 along with a handful of other countries. Apple began offering Black Friday deals in the Australian Apple Store in 2013.
